MARTIN TUOHY

Executive Director


Admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and Victoria as well as the High Court of New Zealand.

Martin has worked at large top tier international firms in both Australia and New Zealand and has experience advising across a broad range of general commercial and business transactions including:

 

  • real estate subdivision;
  • construction and development; and
  • sale and leasing projects.

 

Martin's experience includes business acquisition and divestment, business structuring, real estate ownership and occupation including buying, selling, leasing, development, property management, financing, legal compliance and due diligence for buyers and sellers.  

Martin has acted for buyers, sellers and lenders on large, medium and small scale projects. He has acted for multinational, national and closely held corporations as well as dynamic individuals involved in the business sector in Australia and New Zealand. Previous high profile clients include:

 

  • a public company with respect to the project development and leasing of their Pizza Hut, KFC and Starbucks stores in New Zealand;
  • a Port Authority with respect to a lease of land for a wind farm development in Victoria; and
  • the Government Employees Superannuation Board on its sale of the first half of Central Park in Perth.

 

Martin is actively a member of the Conveyancing Sub-committee of the Law Society of Western Australia and is an associate member of the Taxation Institute of Australia. He has also been a regular presenter at leasing and development seminars for the Property Council of Australia and a contributor to the Western Australian Division newsletter. Martin has presented papers on various legal issues for the Law Society of Western Australia. He continues to be involved in number of high profile commercial transactions and enjoys the challenge of assisting clients to achieve their commercial objectives. EU-MIN TENG

Associate

BCom, LLB(Hons) (UWA)

 

Eu-Min has broad experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution in areas including insolvency, partnerships, mortgages, land development, property, wills and local government.

 

Eu-Min graduated from the University of Western Australia with an honours degree in Law, and a degree in Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Corporate Finance.  His law honours thesis focused on the areas of Unit Trusts and Corporations Law.  He was admitted to practice in the Supreme Courts of New South Wales and Western Australia in 2008.  Eu-Min has previously worked at a large national firm.  He has co-authored some articles in eminent Australian and international law journals, and is currently studying, on a part-time basis, the Master of Laws course at the University of Sydney, with a concentration in the areas of Insolvency Law, Commercial Equity Litigation, Corporations Law and Construction Law.  Eu-Min is also fluent in Mandarin, and has conversational Malay ability.

MARY CHOY

Lawyer

 

Mary graduated with a Law Degree with Honours from Murdoch University in 2007, and after starting a family and completing her practical legal training with the College of Law Mary now works with us as a Lawyer.

 

Mary also has a Science Degree majoring in Molecular Biology and a special interest in Intellectual Property Law, namely patents and design. With an extensive health management background Mary is also interested in all aspects of Commercial Law, as well as Medico-Legal and Personal Injury Law.

 

More recently however, Mary has found a passion for Family Law and spends quite a lot of her time now devoted to this discrete area. Mary looks forward to continuing developing her skills in this area and assisting a diverse range of clients with their legal needs.

ANGELA POWELL

Lawyer

 

Angela graduated with a Law Degree from Murdoch University in 2008. After completing her practical legal training with the College of Law in 2012 Angela now works with us as a Lawyer. Angela has an Arts (Design) Degree from Curtin University which provides a very creative approach to legal matters.

 

Angela’s focus is on all aspects of Commercial Law and Litigation and deals widely in all matters including civil disputes, criminal offences, licencing applications as well as Probate applications to the Supreme Court.

CIARA DILLON

Law Graduate

 

Ciara graduated from Griffith College, Dublin, Ireland with an honours degree in Law. She joined Equitas Lawyers as a law graduate in February 2012. As a law graduate at Equitas Lawyers Ciara assists in a wide range of tasks from assisting with research, to liaising with clients, drafting legal documents and performing various administrative duties.

Joshua is a conveyancer specialising in the legal aspects of buying and selling real property. Joshua completed his Certificate IV in Financial Services (Conveyancing) in 2012. Joshua’s focus is on property settlements regarding both buyers and sellers.

CLARISSA QUEK

Law Clerk

 

Clarissa is currently studying a Bachelor of Law/Bachelor of Science (majoring in Psychological Studies) at the University of Western Australia. She joined Equitas Lawyers as a law clerk in June 2010. As a law clerk at Equitas Lawyers, Clarissa assists in a wide range of tasks from assisting with research, to liaising with clients, drafting legal documents and performing various administrative duties.

Practice Manager

Registered Migration Agent (Migration Agents Registration No. 0956785)

 

Mayo is a Registered Migration Agent and the firm’s Practice Manager. Having completed a Master of Accounting Practice degree at Curtin University and a Graduate Certificate in Migration Law from Murdoch University, Mayo is well equipped to manage Equitas’ migration services and assist Equitas Lawyers’ clients with the management of their legal services.
