Martin is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the Supreme Court of New South Wales and Victoria and the High Court of New Zealand.
He was formerly a lawyer at Bell Gully in New Zealand and Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) and Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashursts) in Australia and has experience advising across a broad range of general commercial, real estate and business transactions including:
- real estate subdivision and development
- building construction and development (drafting and litigation)
- sale and leasing projects
- aged care and retirement village development
- charitable and not for profit incorporated associations establishment and advice
Martin’s experience includes business sale and purchase, business structuring, real estate ownership and occupation including buying, selling, leasing, development, property management, financing, legal compliance and due diligence for buyers and sellers.
He has acted for buyers, sellers and lenders on large, medium and small scale development projects and for multinational, national and closely held corporations as well as dynamic and entrepreneurial individuals involved in the business sector in Australia and New Zealand.
Martin also has commercial litigation experience having acted for clients in most Courts in Western Australia and in the State Administrative Tribunal. He is a member of The Law Society of Western Australia and was formerly a member of its conveyancing sub-committee. He is an associate member of the Taxation Institute of Australia and has been a regular presenter at leasing and development seminars for the Property Council of Australia and a contributor to the Western Australian Division newsletter.
Martin has presented papers on various legal issues for the Law Society of Western Australia, continues to be involved in a number of high profile commercial transactions and enjoys the challenge of assisting clients to achieve their commercial objectives.
